Roles of Senior Security Officer:
- To respond immediately in A&E for all calls for security assistance
involving;
(i) those in fear of physical harm
(ii) scenes of actual or suspected crime where personal injury is
involved
(iii) crime in progress
(iv) fire alarms
(v) Close observation in A&E
- To respond to all other calls for assistance in order of priority.
- To strive to reduce fear of crime that may be held by staff and to this end
all Senior Senior Security Officers will visit all areas of the Hospital as
prescribed by the ‘Morse Patrol’, making their presence known.
- When an arrestable offense, such as theft, criminal damage or assault,
has taken place on Trust premises, Senior Senior Security Officers will
alert the Police, and detain any person:
(i) who is committing, or with reasonable cause is suspected to be in
the act of committing such an offense; or
(ii) who with reasonable cause is suspected of having committed
such an offense, if one has actually been committed.
- To respond to intruder alarms, inspect for signs of break-in, search for suspects, and liaise with the Police as appropriate.
- To question and establish the bona fides of persons found unescorted in
non public areas that are not displaying a Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Photo ID badge.
- Proactively enforce the Trusts ‘No Smoking Policy’
- Ensure the provision of a 24 hour security service and that Security
- Patrol Officers work against their job description and issued guidance.
- To increase and enhance a visible security presence on site and create a
more secure environment/perception for all staff, patients and visitors
there will be a requirement to work from the main reception.
Profile
- Must be able to work under pressure and respond well in emergencies
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Standard Keyboard skills with knowledge of word/excel and report writing
- Ability to undertake quality control and standard monitoring and setting
- Extensive experience working in a security services capacity within a complex environment.
- Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
