Roles of Therapeutic Support Worker:

  • The aim of the post is to provide support to the occupational and physiotherapy team working within the acute trauma and neuro therapy team at St Mary’s Hospital. 
  • The role will include both clinical and administrative duties. 
  • You will be working directly with patients and implementing their prescribed therapy, both with therapists and independently. 
  • Non clinical duties include; keeping notes, inputting data, making referrals and ordering equipment. 
  • You will develop your skills through a competency framework and be supported to do this by qualified staff.
  • The post will suit a good communicator with an interest in caring for people, someone who is interested in developing a career in therapies or healthcare. 
  • Previous experience in the hospital setting, working with people with neurological problems and being part of a team would be essential.

Profile

  • General Education to A level or equivalent and/or NVQ level 3 Promoting Independence/Care/AHP support worker or equivalent Health Apprenticeship qualification/Vocational training qualification.
  • Previous significant experience as a therapy assistant or equivalent in a health care setting.
  • Previous experience of effective multidisciplinary team working.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of health care delivery.
  • Demonstrate an insight into caring/supportive role.
  • Be able to recognise and be willing to seek advice and assistance from qualified staff as required.
  • Able to work flexibly based on the needs of the service.
  • Knowledge of the role of the therapists.
  • Previous work in an acute hospital environment
  • Knowledge of a variety of therapy approaches in different professions.
  • Experience of working in the National Health Service.
  • Experience working with adults with acquired cognitive/ communication difficulties and/or challenging behaviour
