Roles of Health Care Support Worker:
- Health Care Support Worker will track and navigate patients through the breast open access follow up (OAFU) pathways.
- To undertake the registration of new patients to OAFU pathway where indicated. To ensure protocols are adhered to and follow ups/diagnostic tests are booked and tracked. To provide a comprehensive and efficient administrative service to the patients and clinical team members of the breast cancer pathway.
- The Health support worker will work closely with the clinical breast team and clinical nurse specialists, key stakeholders from other services and in liaison with other hospital as required.
- The Health Care Support Worker will work as part of the multidisciplinary team and will provide support in the proactive management of the Breast Cancer patient pathway for the duration of their follow up, ensuring the entire pathway is tracked and managed smoothly.
Profile
- Previous NHS administration
- Working in/or with cancer MDT team(s)
- Proven experience of working to deadlines and target
- Experience of communicating complex instructions with sensitivity to patients and relatives.
- Working with Breast Cancer Patients.
- Working knowledge of hospital computer systems (Cerner, Infoflex, CRIS)
- Educated to Band 4, A level or BTEC / GNVQ level – or relevant job experience.
- Sufficient experience as an NHS Administrator
- Good IT literacy
