Roles of NHS Health Care Assistant :
- The NHS Health Care Assistant will assist with the direct care of patients as delegated to and supervised by the registered nurse / healthcare professional.
- The NHS Health Care Assistant will provide support to the nursing team working collaboratively with members of the multi disciplinary team and contributing positively to the delivery of high quality compassionate care.
- The NHS Health Care Assistant will uphold the fundamental standards of safety and quality always putting the patients first and protecting them from harm.
- The NHS Health Care Assistant will assist registered nurses/healthcare professionals in the delivery of individualized holistic patient care according to policy/procedure.
- The NHS Health Care Assistant will ensure that consent is obtained prior to delivering all aspects of patient care.
- To involve relatives / carers in the delivery of care, interacting with them helpfully and in a friendly manner providing information as appropriate.
- The NHS Health Care Assistant will ensure care is delivered with compassion and respect to all patients.
- The NHS Health Care Assistant will work with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the prevention of patient harm by participating in risk assessments e.g. pressure ulcer development, falls, nutrition and comfort rounds.
Profile
- NVQ level 3 required
- Previous care experience needed
- Care certificate
- Interpersonal skills
- Evidence of Health & Social care study or equivalent.
